A new chapter – our sales manager Kaspar shares his reflections on his first months at Regio

Kaspar Uba, Sales Manager for Geospatial Data, joined Regio in April 2025. Regio had already caught his eye earlier – the field seemed appealingly modern and technical. Now, four months later, he shares his first impressions and reflections. Welcome to the Regio, Kaspar, and here’s to many more exciting challenges ahead!

Since April 2025, I have been part of the Regio team, working as Sales Manager for Geospatial Data. Although I have only been here for four months, the experience has been both challenging and highly inspiring. At the heart of my work are geospatial data solutions that help clients make better decisions – whether that means more accurate maps, address data, or other geographic information.

I joined Regio after many years in the telemarketing sector, looking for a new challenge. While I had no prior experience in the geoinformation world, the professionals at Regio have given me every opportunity to quickly get up to speed. From the very first days, I felt this was a place where technical precision and client focus go hand in hand. I was especially drawn to my colleagues’ initiative and their ability to solve complex challenges – ones that, to me as a newcomer, initially seemed almost impossible.

I was also surprised to learn that the mapping application I had been using for years to get from point A to point B relies on Regio’s geospatial data. Now, when I travel around Estonia, I notice Regio’s footprint everywhere – for example, in beautifully designed outdoor maps. Having seen first-hand how a map is created step-by-step, I can say there is an enormous amount of care and effort behind it. Every tiny detail is critical.

My role is to connect clients with Regio’s expertise. That means listening to and understanding their needs, finding the right solution, and making sure it reaches them in the right form and at the right time. So far, I’ve had the chance to work with a wide range of organisations – from e-commerce businesses to government institutions.

It didn’t take long to realise that geospatial data is not just “points on a map.” Every address, road, and boundary line has been carefully collected, organised, and kept up to date by someone. This understanding has changed how I see maps – now I know that behind every line of data lies a great deal of work and precision.

Although we also have ready-made solutions for clients, more often than not our services are tailored to specific needs. That’s why close collaboration with the technical team is essential – they provide the solid foundation for my work and make client solutions possible.

One of the things I value most at Regio is the team atmosphere – it’s easy to ask for help and share ideas. It’s inspiring to see how dedicated people are to their work. Even if the field may seem technically complex at first, it’s possible to adapt quickly and learn a lot along the way.

From time to time, I am joined at the office by a griffon named Donny, who has been warmly welcomed by colleagues and is actually a part-time team member already. He comes to the office happily and, when it’s time to go home, often seems to signal that he’d like to stay longer.

Having worked mostly from home for the past five years in my previous role, I have rediscovered how important it is to be physically present at the office. Being face-to-face helps us understand each other better and greatly reduces miscommunication. It also strengthens relationships between colleagues – especially important in situations that require quick cooperation. These first few months have confirmed that I am on the right path. I love that my work allows me to combine communication, analytical thinking, and continuous learning. The world of geospatial data is evolving rapidly, and it’s a joy to keep pace with it.
