A Look Back at the Year 2025

Largest project: Regio Baltic States Database
In 2025, our largest and most time-consuming project was the Regio Baltic Database, with a total workload of over 9,000 working hours. The database is the backbone of our work: if it is strong, our services and products are strong as well.
The Regio database integrates information from more than 100 different data sources, bringing streets, roads, addresses, buildings, points of interest, and much more into a single, coherent database – always up to date and reliable.

Growth in API Clients
In 2025, the number of our API clients grew by 25%. We are especially pleased with the feedback from clients confirming that Regio’s data is reliable and up to date.
The Regio API makes it easy and seamless to integrate spatial data from the Baltic countries into various services and applications, and this flexibility is a key factor for many of our clients.
Meetings and new Collaboration Opportunities in Germany
One of the key focuses of 2025 was certainly Germany. Several meetings at trade fairs and conferences there are already moving toward collaborations, and we are very grateful to two people who accompanied us throughout the year on this journey: Birgit Linnamäe from Estonia and Daniel Lanz from Germany.

Supporting Companies Without Their Own GIS Team Using QGIS
QGIS is one of Regio’s geoinformatics specialists’ favorite GIS software. It is also a highly effective tool for companies that do not have their own GIS team. Last year, we helped several clients organize their customer data and perform spatial analyses. Since many employees had no prior experience with QGIS, we also started offering QGIS training sessions for them.

Highly Popular Wall Maps
Over the past ten years, we have never printed as many wall maps as we did last year – the print volume increased approximately threefold compared to 2024.
Learning geography in schools still isn’t complete without wall maps, and for many organizations, a wall map remains an essential everyday tool. And of course, a wall map brings space to life!

Participation in the Mapping Leaders Forum in London
In May, we attended the Mapping Leaders Forum in London, which brought together nearly 40 map publishers from 12 countries. The central topic of the forum was the present and future of map publishing.
Mapmakers agreed that, although the overall production of paper maps has decreased, purpose-specific maps – for example, for hiking – remain very popular and highly valued.

Folded Map Estonian Hiking and Health Trails
For the first time, the folded map “Estonian hiking and health trails” was published, featuring 318 hiking trails and 137 health trails, as well as RMK long-distance trails, the Coastal Trail, the Forest Trail, and the Pilgrimage Route. The foldout is printed on water- and tear-resistant material, so you don’t have to worry about it ripping before you’ve explored all the trails. All RMK hiking trails have also been added to the Garmin Regio Estonia Topo map.

Team
We’re happy to note that 2025 was another year of growth for our team. With our new Location Data & GIS Product and Sales Manager Kaspar, we also welcomed an office dog, who comes to work several times a week with Kaspar. Of course, Donny has quickly become everyone’s favorite.

And finally – short videos bring joy and capture Regio’s story
Last year was full of busy workdays. To make room for a bit of humor and joy – and as we approach our 35th year in operation – we started capturing our daily life through short videos. These videos help preserve moments, people, and stories that truly drive Regio.
